Biography:

My name is Geoff Salomons and am currently a PhD student in the department of Political Science at the University of Alberta.  My research areas include public policy (especially environmental policy), democratic theory, and environmental ethics.  My research focuses on the nature of long-term policy problems and the ways domestic policy makers can better address such problems.

I have a MA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.  My MA thesis looked at the  overhaul of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (2012)  that was part of the Canadian governments massive omnibus budget bill C-38.  Specifically it looked at the likely consequences for public participation in Canada’s environmental assessment process as the changes restricted public participation to those “directly affected”.

Prior to becoming a political scientist I earned a Master of Divinity from the Vancouver School of Theology.  As a result, my interest in the ethics of intergenerational justice comes from a deep, progressive faith that hopes for humanity to fulfill it own potential.
